Eight years.

What advice would you give your younger self?
Connect and persist as well as educate.

What made you want to pursue a career in nursing?
To make a difference in healthcare outcomes.

What book should every nurse read?
Taking Care by Sarah Digregorio

What has been your most interesting/surprising outcome while conducting nursing research?
Helping women and children better manage their health.

What is a fun fact many people may not know about you?
I have a Newfoundland Dog and two Maine Coon Cats- Serena, Willem and Trixie.

About Phyllis

My goal in nursing has been to increase my sphere of influence through education and research. My career long focus in Nursing Research has been focused on women and children with life threatening chronic illnesses including Cancer and HIV. I have served as Director of Nursing Research at Memorial Sloan Kettering. On the faculty at Seton Hall University where I served as chair of the graduate program and as Dean of the College for 14 years where I led in the development of the PhD Program. I also serve as a peer reviewer for Nursing Research, The Journal of Nursing Measurement and several other major journals. I have received R01 funding from NINR and served as a study section reviewer for NINR.
